Performative Reading
To mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, G.I.F.T., in collaboration with the ‘Women’s Network for Peace’, has developed a multilingual exchange of letters between two women and their husbands or childhood friends at the front, presented as a staged reading. This is not about assigning blame on the basis of gender. On the contrary: ‘Zäsur-Cesura-Césure’ exposes the mechanism by which the hypocritical glorification of supposed roles as man or woman drives a deep wedge into the most intimate relationships between two people.
